BEAUTY MINUTE: FAVORITE NAIL COLORS LATELY

favorite nail colors

I love love love painting my nails and love a good home manicure, too, as mentioned in this post. (For more on my toolbox and routine check this post, too.) It’s one of those simple pleasures that truly makes me dance and sing. (Unfortunately I’m not kidding about the singing part. It’s right up there with fresh sheets on the bed and snuggly cats.) I’m also one of those silly-pants girls who takes a shot of every completed home manicure and posts it to Instagram (follow me @lindsayliving). In light of all this I thought this week I would share some of my favorite shades lately.

DARK MOODY BURGUNDY | Oh to Be 25 Again! by OPI | Borrowed this from my mother-in-law while visiting and we did manicures together at the kitchen table. I found this color in her stash and it’s been a favorite ever since. Unfortunately this color is a bit  hard to find since it was an anniversary release, but Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ is a similar shade.

PALE DUSTY MAUVE | Ladylike by Essie | A part of the new collection for spring, Ladylike is sweet, subtle, and sophisticated. Plus it allows me to indulge my love of alliteration…

NEUTRAL KHAKI | Sand Tropez by Essie | Found this amazing color in my Xmas stocking, although I may have given husband a few hints. I was admiring light neutrals like ivory and white, but wasn’t sure I wanted to go all the way for the white-out look so I opted for this shade. I was worried it’d be boring, but totally the opposite. It goes with EVERYTHING and makes you feel clean and fresh.

HOTTER THAN HOT PINK | I’m Indi-A Mood for Love by OPI | If I’m not in darks or lights (the usual) I jump out of my comfort zone and into brights. This particular hot pink seems to work no matter the season. It’s a perfect pink, honest and truly.

What are your favorite colors? I’m always on the lookout for new things. Please mention yours in the comments below. Happy nails, everyone!

I’m so jealous. Love the first color! A manicure is a very drawn out process these days: polish removal/shaping during 1 nap, base coat during the next, 1st coat the following day during nap, 2nd coat during 2nd nap, and top coat on the 3rd day first nap! It’s a challenge, but I make it work. I just can’t give up pretty nails!

Oh wow! I never thought of that in reference to balancing manicure with baby. That would be challenging! Do you ever get them painted and then need to pick her up or something? (cringe!) The hardest part of any manicure is waiting for them to dry and that would be tough with a little one you have to take care of/want to snuggle with. If you haven’t yet you should really try that Seche base coat and top coat. It dries incredibly fast!

I just discovered your blog through Jean of All Trades’ blog (the thrifted clothes link up). I love it! And I love painting my nails. It makes me feel so fixed up and in the Summer, it hides the dirt under my nails from gardening ;) This post reminded me that I should paint my nails more often. I saw your post on the Seche base and top coat and picked that up on my way home last night. I have never tried a base and top coat before, but you inspired me to give it a go. I am super hard on my nails (at work and play), so I am anxious to see how it does. Anyway, I am now inspired to really get into “home” manicures. I am so glad I found your blog!

Thanks, Lilly! I’m so glad you found me, too! Home manicure is one of those great things you can do for yourself; a little me time if you will (although I think that term is kinda silly sounding…haha). You’ll have to let me know what you think of the Seche products. They have totally changed my manicure for the amazingly better and I hope you think so, too. The top coat dries super fast and adds an extra layer of protection and prevents chips longer. I’m hard on my nails too, and this totally helps. Yay! Thanks again for your sweet comment!
