Sorry for the slightly blurry photos today. Husband and I had a heck of a time getting things focused in the dim light before our quick trip to the grocery store. Yup, that’s us. Really gettin’ wild n’ crazy in our thirties. Apparently I’m also too old to be spontaneous anymore, or so say my friends. We have to like call in advance and like plan stuff beforehand and what not. Ruh roh, that’s two dollars in the like jar… ‘cuz apparently I’m too old for that, too. (J/K I don’t really have a like jar, but I should probably get a ruh roh jar.) The good news is that I’m not too old to wear boots over my jeans or birds on my shirt. (If the photos were less blurry you would be able to tell they’re birds, not drumsticks, pinky promise.) One thing I know I’m too old for? Shopping at A&F. On a mission to spend a three-year-old gift card collecting dust in my wallet I waded through the shadows and A&F perfume cloud to find this scarf and another. I have to admit I was only about 75% sure it was green when I bought it, but it all worked in the end because it’s really snuggly.

Ah, our thirties… when we leave the craziness of our twenties and settle down into adulthood. It’s actually a good period with domestic warmth and satisfying activities. Enjoy it.
Cute outfit. The scarf is wonderful. Best of all, though, is your smile. You radiate joy out to the world.
I love your comment – sorry it took me so long to let you know that. You are so right and it is quite a transition. I’m looking forward to more domesticity in my thirties as that was a challenge for me in my twenties. Thanks so much!
I pretty much love this post, firstly because i thought maybe those were ping-pong paddles (cue my mental versus actual age) but secondly and more importantly because you raise an under-discussed ageist situation going on. I just turned thirty and last night made plans with one of my closest friends for the last weekend in march…MARCH! I get it, life, work, kids, but when did this happen? It is a strange balance to strike because I still get wasted on week nights and speak like a 15 year old girl snapping on bubble yum, but I also do lots of other, real-person adult things too. strange strange transition!
Thank you so much! I love love your comment. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave it. I always drive home on a Friday night, text all my friends and hope for an incredible spontaneous evening, but it seems that is getting more few and far between. I feel like such a kid most of the time, so it’s funny that I teach kids for a living. Total oxymoron some days.
P.S. Totally had a Bubble-Yum flashback. Love that stuff.
True confession: I did think those were drumsticks! But I see the birds now! Honest! I love the colors together. And that scarf is super cute.
I’m only 28 and I outgrew A&F ages ago. When I got hips. Which was a shame because they were the only store I wore an 8 in when I was a 12 everywhere else.
Every time I put on this blouse husband comments on my “drumstick shirt”. Oy. I agree with you that hips and A&F are like two negative magnets – just pushing away from each other. Thanks for your comment!
I haven’t stepped foot in an A&F in a decade, but now I might have to for that scarf. It could be worth the perfume suffocation.
I hate to say it, but it might be worth it. I love this darn thing and still can’t believe I found it there. Oy the perfume. {shudders}
I thought they were drumsticks too! Lovely outfit. I like the colors and how they all go but nothing’s too matchy.
I try making plans with friends and, yeah, it’s weeks in advance. My husband will do things at the drop of a hate. I’m somewhere in between my friends and hubby but I do like the idea of being spontanious.
Spontaneous nights of fun are always the best because there are no expectations. I hate nights like New Year’s Eve generally because there’s so much pressure to make the night amazing, even if you don’t feel so amazing. We’ll have to get a spontaneous cocktail sometime soon, Jean.
hahahaha it DOES look like there are drumsticks! cute either way though
I love that scarf!
Thanks so much!
I thought they were Maracas. Like it was your Mexican shirt. How’s the second grade treating you?
Never thought of maracas! Haha. Second grade is fabulous! It’s such a great age and the kids in my class are so sweet. Love it!
Glad to hear it! My daughter LOVES teaching that grade. She’s teaching 3rd right now, but says the math is really hard. haha. She would LOVE to relocate back up to Seattle from SoCA, but had SO MUCH trouble finding a teaching job here. Her collection of a million coats is so sad down there . . . Advice?
