In the midst of unpacking zillions of boxes, I snuck away to a coffee shop to share some of the photos of the new place I’ve taken so far. (You can see lots more in real time by following me on Instagram.) I’ve never been in love with a place I’ve lived in like this before. Everything about it just feels like me. Like the person I want to be. You know? It’s hard to explain, really. My mind has been so flooded lately, and my life is swimming in change, so right now this place is the one thing that’s almost keeping me centered.
I’ve spent the last two days listening to my record collection, unpacking boxes, and thinking about all of the people that have lived in this apartment in the last 91 years. It’s endlessly fascinating living in such an old building with so much history I’ll never truly know about. That’s one of the best things about this city, or Capitol Hill more specifically. I know I’ve waxed poetic about my childhood fascination with these streets in past posts, but I have to say I don’t think I ever want to leave. I went through some stuff with wanting a house and all that awhile ago, but really, when I think about what I really want out of life I have to be honest with myself and admit it’s all right here.

Yay! Your move is going well. I’m glad you’re in a place that inspires you and already feels like home. Owning a place is nice, but there’s a lot of time and money spent on upkeep. I think if, as a renter, you put all the money you’re not spending on lawncare and roofing etc. in the bank, you’ll be better off. Rent or buy, I think the key is to make it yours. Sounds like you are.
Oh, how exciting! I love apartments in old buildings. They just have so much charm!
Looking good!

Oh yay! I hope you are able to settle everything out. Transition can be so overwhelming at times. But I am so, so glad you are pleased with your new place.

Knowing that you’re also in Capitol Hill, with all your charm and brilliance, makes me happy. ;u;
I’ll make some blogger friends around here yet!
And your place looks lovely. The cloud cover around here makes everything look soft and quiet, no?
The apartment looks so nice! I like moving to a new place. You get to organize everything and find a special place for all your items.
glad most of your move is done. I really hate moving but you always get rid of tons of stuff…. which I always think is a great thing.
Kimmie (of blue paper lanterns) and I were talking about doing a Seattle fashion blogger meet-up and she told me about your blog. Congrats on the move! I love Cap Hill and I’m bummed it is one of the neighborhoods I haven’t lived in yet. I’m excited to start following you – check out my blog and let me know if you’d be interested in a lunch or HH meet-up sometime soon!
