Oh em gee, you guys!!! I finally bought a headboard. This purchase has been a long time coming, and although I’m purging items and saving money right now, I found a great deal on a beauty from Wayfair and I nabbed it.

The headboard I picked is a classic upholstered style with lovely shiny chrome nailhead trim and it coordinates perfectly with everything in my apartment. It’s a cool-toned charcoal color. It’s really quite lovely. I especially love it with this collection of bedding, including my duvet set from IKEA. More photos and details up next!

You’ll have to forgive me for the iPhone photos, but it’s been a busy week! I recently upgraded to an iPhone 6 and that camera is pretty great, even after dark in my little apartment.

The headboard was fairly simple to put together despite some issues starting the screws. Next was getting it in place.

This is much tougher than it sounds considering my place is tiny (nowhere to put the mattress) and I was doing this by myself (no help moving said heavy mattress). But of course, where there’s a will, there’s a way and I was just too excited!

See, awkward! Oh yeah, and some laundry in the photo for good measure. Haha…

I realized that the placement of the new headboard next to the decommissioned radiator meant that it would have to move over several inches to accommodate a pipe at the base. Before, when it was just a bed frame without a headboard the bars fit over the top of this pipe and the bed snugged into the corner between the radiator and the wall a few inches to the left. This might not sound like that big a deal, but in a studio apartment every inch helps. I was worried that would make everything else, too tight, namely the right stand on the right which is next to the sofa. I’m still pondering whether or not this furniture arrangement works with the new headboard in place. So far it feels alright, but I’m excited to move things around and try out some different room arrangement ideas (if I get ambitious this weekend).

I couldn’t wait to make the bed and see how it all came together. I layered my white sheets with my IKEA duvet set and a vintage quilt that is one of my prized possessions. A new pot of daffodils from my trip home to visit my mama certainly didn’t hurt matters any. This was the day I got home, after they’d been in the car all day, and they’ve since shot straight up, enjoying the sunshine from my windows. I love flowers just about everywhere in my apartment and want to add some more plants this summer.

Don’t giggle too much at Ruby’s scratching post. I need to move it into my closet, perhaps… Again sorry for the dark photos, but I was just too excited about the headboard I had to put them up anyway. I’ll take some proper status photos of the apartment soon so you can see what things really look like.

I was so thrilled to find this headboard on Wayfair and it was such a good deal! Wayfair has quickly become my favorite affordable source for a variety of things for the home, most notably furniture. I bought my office chair from Wayfair a few weeks ago and am totally obsessed with it. If you haven’t peaked around on their site yet, you should really take a look!

In the next Happy Home post I will be sharing progress on my home office. I also have plans for a ribbon message board project and some new art to hang. Plus I have a tutorial on my color-blocked bookcase in the works!
