My living room, in my little studio apartment on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Oh, and my little sidekick, Ruby.

Lindsay Lately is a series that I tried out last year with the intention of sharing more about what occupies my time beyond outfits and home decor. I’m bringing it back this year with the goal of making it a bi-weekly or monthly post. If you have any specific questions or topics you would like me to discuss in this series, please let me know. Thanks for reading!

Loving…
  • My Current Furniture Arrangement. I’ve rearranged my furniture in my tiny studio countless times, and I know I’ve said it before, but this time I think I nailed it. I’ve had a lot of requests for a home tour lately so I thought I would share at least one recent photo of my living room. I’ve taken out most of the color in this room and kept it to black, white, and grey, with an emphasis on mixed prints. I really love the simplicity of it.
  • My Guitar. I’m one of those nerds for whom New Year’s Resolutions still exist. My resolution for 2017? Learn how to play the guitar. I bought the most gorgeous Breedlove acoustic-electric guitar back in November, and have been tinkering around on it at home with help from youtube, but am ready to get started on lessons. I did some research via Thumbtack and am planning to attend my first lesson this week! Eeeeeeee!!! 🙂
  • My Apple Watch. I’d been wanting a new fitness tracker for awhile, and once my mama got an Apple Watch and I read Fran’s amazing review of hers, I realized I could get something that could do so much more than simply track my activity. Add in the fact that Target had the exact one I wanted on sale and I was sold. I’m planning to write my own review here soon, once I’ve had a little more experience with it.

Wearing…
  • Denim. All day, every day. I can’t stop myself from looking at denim everywhere I go, and the last few pieces I’ve picked up have been denim. My current favorites are the high-waisted Jamie from Topshop, this B.P. exposed button-fly pair (also high-waisted), and a pair of Paige Verdugo skinnies that I got on clearance at Nordstrom Rack. I’m also obsessed with denim overalls, jackets, and dresses. Denim is pretty much all I look at online these days…except…
  • Adidas Superstars. I bought an all white pair last summer and have worn them constantly since. So naturally I think I need another pair. I want the all leather version with black stripes and the gold label. It’s only a matter of time.
  • Sneakers in general. Speaking of sneakers, I am becoming a bit of a sneakerhead. It started with a little Brooks obsession that encompassed both running shoes and casual sneakers from their Brooks Heritage line. Then it extended to the Adidas, and now I’m stalking an all-white pair of high-top Chuck Taylors, but I can’t decide between the canvas or the leather versions. I’d love to hear your opinion if you have one!
Reading…
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, by Mark Manson. As a recovering perfectionist and people-pleaser, I found this book entirely refreshing and in alignment with my current personal transition over the last year. If you need a kick in the pants to get real in 2017, this is your book.
  • Hard Choices, by Hillary Clinton. Not to get overly political, but anyone who has read this blog or follows me on social media knows where I stand on politics. During these rough months, I have found it comforting to listen to her voice and hear her stories, and appreciate the incredible journey that it has taken her to become the icon that is Hillary Clinton. Enough said.
Listening to…
  • Tom & Lorenzo’s Pop Culture Opinionfest. Overloaded with round the clock NPR and news alerts on my phone, I needed something fluffy and superfluous to relax after work. My BFF suggested Tom and Lorenzo, and I must say I already adore them. This dynamic duo and married couple writes a blog together, and they use their podcast to share their many opinions about movies, award shows, fashion, and television and it is pure fun. Plus, they have decided to keep politics off their site and out of their podcast, which is amazing since that’s exactly what I came to them for.
  • Why Oh Why. Getting back to the single life this winter has certainly been interesting, and I have loved having host Andrea Silenzi right there with me, asking awkward questions of New Yorkers, and filling my ears with stories I can laugh laugh out loud to and empathize with.
  • My February 2017 playlist on Spotify. In Saturday’s post I shared my most recent musical finds, and I plan to share them here on the blog each month. Creating monthly playlists has been a habit of mine since I got my first computer and downloaded Napster way back when. I currently keep up the tradition on Spotify. Find me there by searching Lindsay Ann Thurston.
  • Modern Love from the New York Times. In my quest to find a few new podcasts to obsess over, I have totally fallen for Modern Love from the New York Times. I’ve read a few of the columns over the years, but the podcast is so much better. Producers ask award-winning actors to select their favorite Modern Love essays to perform for the podcast, and their silky voices bring the stories to life. Plus, they wrap up each episode with updates from the writers and Daniel Jones, the editor of Modern Love. The stories range from young to old, single to coupled, children to elderly parents, and everything in between. All kinds of love are explored and honestly it’s such a great way to relax on my commute after a long day.
Planning for…
  • A trip Las Vegas next month! An opportunity has arisen to be the honorary sister to my best friend and her two sisters for her little sister’s 30th birthday weekend. We’re going the first weekend in March and I simply cannot wait! I’ve never done the Vegas thing and have often thought it wasn’t really for me, but I think this is the perfect group of gals to help me see what it’s all about. Plus this Seattle girl could use some sunshine and pool time! Get ready for a little Vegas overload on Instagram… If you have any Vegas recommendations, please leave them in the comments!
Dreaming about…
  • Spring camping trips. I’ve already been peppering my friends with wonderful camping stories to begin piquing their interests. Now I just need to get some dates booked on the calendar. Perhaps spring break…
  • Concerts. Always concerts. Another New Year’s resolution of mine has been to go to at least two concerts per month. So far I’m surpassing my goal and have already seen so many great bands in 2017! I’m already planning ahead for the Sasquatch Festival in Central Washington this spring and a ton more concerts each month. I’m working on a roundup for the blog to share soon. If I can inspire even just one of you to get out and see some live music this year I’ll consider myself successful!
