It’s hard for me to pick just one favorite band, but Purity Ring is up there. Way up there. Their debut album, Shrines, was the soundtrack to my 2013 and I’m thrilled to report I just picked up a copy of their sophomore offering, Another Eternity. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Purity Ring is the brainchild of Corin Roddick and Megan James, two musicians from Edmonton, who were members of another band, Born Gold when Roddick began experimenting with his own electronic beats. He came up with one track he was particularly proud of, “Ungirthed” and asked James to sing on top of the beat. Soon after, Purity Ring was born. “Ungirthed” happens to be my favorite song from the first album, so it was fun to discover that it was the song that inspired them to create the band. It’s truly a must-listen.

One of the first singles from the album, “Push Pull” has been on repeat in my headphones. Check it out in the video above. While the band stays true to its electronic roots, they worked together in the studio on this LP, unlike their previous work. Interested in learning more?
