I adore this dress. Since I happened upon it one day at Nordstrom Rack, I’ve been obsessed with it. I always feel lovely in it, even though it isn’t fitted at all, and it always feels easy and carefree. Or at least that’s how I feel when I wear it, which is pretty much the same thing, I suppose. It’s so light and airy that winterizing the styling presented a bit of a challenge… until I filled in all the blanks with the brilliance of black.

I don’t wear this vest nearly enough and I love it so much, so it was fun to add layers and utility to such a feminine piece. I recently bought this pair of black tights and honestly haven’t worn tights in maybe two years. This is still crazy to me since I used to be SUCH a tights girl. (For embarrassing evidence, click here.) My mama gave me this gorgeous, mint vintage Coach handbag from her own closet years ago and it’s one of my favorite things.

One thing I’d like to do this year is to spend more time wearing and enjoying the pieces that didn’t get remixed enough in 2016. I think there’s a lot of opportunity for some new combinations in the coming months. Plus, remixing is always a great way to love what you have and save a little cash. I recently picked up a couple sale items to round out my spring transition, but overall I’m pleased with my closet. I’m putting more emphasis on bagging up and selling the things I no longer wear or love, keeping my space very organized so I can find everything, getting old favorites repaired at the tailor and cobbler, and being extremely selective when spending money or adding things to my closet. I find remixing is so much easier when your closet only contains things you actually want to wear.

Sometimes it’s tough for me to get detailed beauty shots, but this one pretty accurately shows my cateye liquid liner, bold rose cheeks, and slightly pink lip colour. What you don’t see is the deep grey or sparkling glitter eye shadow that I can’t get enough of. Thinking of doing a makeup tutorial one of these days, so please let me know if that would be of interest!
