I’m a no rules kind of dresser. I mean, I understand what shapes work together and what shapes don’t work together, and I’m a stickler for fit, but other than that, I don’t really believe in all that mumbo jumbo about certain colors for certain seasons or what you can wear or not wear at a certain age or time in your life. I like challenging what’s “acceptable” and pushing even my own tattered boundaries when it comes to getting dressed.
Admittedly there’s a lot going on in this outfit. I started with the skirt, wanting to pair it with a blousy top since it’s short and form fitting. Enter chambray shirt, the top that goes with everything. I couldn’t find any of my black tights so I went with brown. I actually wanted to return these booties, but unfortunately I waited past the return policy and now I’m stuck with ’em so I’m trying to find more ways of integrating them into my wardrobe. My leathers are clearly fighting with each other, like… Red! No, camel! Hey…black! No, red! For all these reasons I was unsure about photographing this one, but now that I’m looking at the photos, I kinda like it. I’ve always said I don’t like things too matchy-matchy. I love when things are just a little bit off, as crazy as that sounds. This outfit is proof of that.
