I’ve never really done the Vegas thing. You know, crazy girls trip, getting all dressed up, gambling, and staying out until four? I guess I never really thought Vegas was my thing. I went to Las Vegas once ten years ago for my mama’s wedding, but I didn’t even stay in a hotel! So when the opportunity came up to go with my best friend C. and her two sweet sisters I jumped at the chance. Plus, all teachers could use a little vacation from the hectic month that is March.

We jetted off last Friday and escaped the freezing Seattle rain for a mid-seventies paradise in Las Vegas for the weekend. We stayed at The Palazzo, which is part of the Venetian family of hotels. The room was beautiful and huge with a sunken living room and a gorgeous view (as long as I squinted and avoided looking at Trump Tower, of course!). We had a blast spending hours getting ready and chatting over cocktails, going out for fantastic dinners and brunches, dancing, seeing a show, laughing our asses off, sitting in the hot tub, catching some live music, and playing beer pong of all things! It was truly a wonderful trip. Plus, I learned some valuable, Vegas-specific lessons like ‘don’t wear four-inch heels for an endless night out’ unless you want to carry your shoes though part of the evening. Ha! It was tough coming back to reality in my classroom this week, especially now that it’s report card time again. At least I have the memories of this quick getaway to hold me over until spring break.

We snapped these photos super fast in the lobby of The Mirage on Sunday before leaving town. It was a gorgeous building full of exotic plants and they even have an animal sanctuary out back. I thought these somewhat tropical shorts found an appropriate home in front of this lush backdrop! There’s no accounting for my sour expression in the next photo, though! I was having a great time! I guess I’m just so used to taking my own photos that it’s hard to get the right shots in five minutes with people walking by! I’ll have to work on my outfit photo travel game. More on my Vegas trip and a few recommendations coming up soon on the blog. Until then, have a wonderful day!
