Worn sweater top: Banana Republic, stretchy leather front belt: Banana Republic, flowy silk skirt: , black tights: Spanx, grey/black oxfords: Deena & Ozzy via Urban Outfitters.
Details To be honest, I felt a wee bit French in this outfit! It reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw when she arrives in Paris with Mikhail Baryshnikov and wears this incredible play on stripes which, of course, includes a giant striped flower on her blouse. Now where is a huge striped flower blouse when a girl really needs one. That might need to be a DIY project for this gal some summer afternoon…
Although this outfit is colorless and simple it was fun to wear. My only complaint was that the elastic belt over this elastic waist skirt grew steadily uncomfortable over the course of the day, thus my quick change after I got home before going out for Friday night adventures with husband.
Quick Teacher Tip: Does your favorite top have a low cut neckline? Just cover it up with a scarf during the school hours to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. Remove the scarf at the end of the day and you’re good to go for an evening out.

Details When I got home I was excited to find that my 30th item had finally arrived in the mail. Since my day outfit had become uncomfortable I was excited to change it up and feature my super amazing new boots (click link above for shopping information). I’ve been looking for the perfect black knee-high boots for a long long looooooong time and am happy to report that I didn’t have to order an extended calf style. After millions of try-ons I found that Steve Madden has a slightly more generous calf width and had lots to choose from. Ultimately I fell for these for their heel height, the quality of the leather, and the unique wedge design, which I haven’t seen around town much. I’ve mentioned a few times that I don’t own any red items, but when digging through my scarf bin I found this one hiding at the very bottom! Turns out I do have a itty bit of red in my wardrobe.
Tonight after my quick change, husband and I went for one of our traditional Friday night dates, out for sushi at Genki and then to our favorite neighborhood record store. Even though we do some version of this just about every Friday, it’s moments like these when I am able to take things a bit slower (mostly because I don’t have to get up so darn early the next day) and pause to enjoy these moments of our life together. Even though work is stressful and my week is packed, Fridays with the man I love, in the city I love, make everything worthwhile.
