I was thrilled to attend the SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker launch party at the Nordstrom flagship store in downtown Seattle last Wednesday! The shoes are simply to die for and seeing Ms. Parker in person was the icing on an already splendid Nordstrom event cake. As a longtime fan, both of her work and her famously gorgeous and fearless personal style, I thought long and hard about my outfit that morning, and couldn’t wait to catch even a glimpse of her.

The lines and crowd were like nothing I’ve ever seen at Nordstrom before. As the first stop on her whistle stop tour of US stores, Nordstrom has an exclusive deal with Parker and SJP to carry and promote her line. It’s so nice living in Seattle, home of the Nordstrom flagship store and home base of the company, because we get some pretty amazing guests stars from the fashion world.

I was happy to be ushered into the media section, right up from with the important people from Nordstrom. When Ms. Parker finally came strolling down the escalator and down the hall toward Salon Shoes, my heart skipped a beat. It was really her. Wow. She looked like a little doll in her a-line dress, dotted sheer hosiery and red Fawn SJP shoes. As I began to furiously snap photos, she walked right by me and proceeded to hug a bunch of people directly to my left and right. It took everything I had not to say something to her.

Customers who purchased shoes that afternoon got the chance to line up and have a meet-and-greet with the star and although I didn’t get the chance to speak with her, I was front and center and heard every conversation she had with the lucky few. She was so incredibly down to earth and sweet. She asked for each customer’s name and replied with, “I’m Sarah Jessica,” the ultimate sweet, normal and unexpected response from someone surrounded by gushing fans. She had personal conversations with each person, asked questions, gave ideas on how to wear the shoes, and thanked everyone profusely for buying shoes, waiting in line, and apologized for not having more time to spend with each guest. She was everything I hoped she would be: generous, gracious, kind, and real. That SJP is the real deal.

The shoes are absolutely stunning! If it hadn’t been so completely packed for Sarah Jessica’s arrival I would have happily tried on every single pair. They’re beautifully made, all manufactured in Italy with high quality leathers and suedes. Many shoppers echoed my observation that they’re built similarly to Manolo Blahniks, SJP’s shoe soul mate. Everyone from the Nordstrom team was wearing their favorite pair and clearly dressed to impress Ms. Parker. It was certainly a fashionable event!

DSC_0760DSC_0777This woman had been waiting since 6:30 that morning for her moment with Sarah Jessica and was the first customer ushered over to meet her. They shared a hug and SJP gushed with gratitude for this woman’s patience and tenacity to meet her. She graciously signed several items for her including a bottle of SJP’s famous first fragrance, Lovely. Clearly, Ms. Parker was worth the wait.

DSC_0762The line includes a few little handbags and clutches, too. This little coral number, the Waverly leather cross body, is my favorite. I love the size, shape, and the sweet little handle. It also comes in black and a beautiful shade of blue. The adorable Anna again, in green. LOVING that shade of green this spring!

DSC_0759Ms. Parker introduced the shoe above saying “I always felt the shoe I had the most affinity for would be called the Carrie, for obvious reasons.” It’s sleek and sophisticated with a nod to vintage. Plus, how often can a girl find a great t-strap sandal these days? Almost never. The Carrie is certainly one of my favorite designs and I LOVE that it comes in this brilliant shade of purple.

DSC_0748The Slim peep toe pump has a little disco flavor, don’t you think? She also comes in a beautiful denim blue suede.

DSC_0747The most popular style I saw among the Nordstrom team, who had first access to all of the beautiful SJP styles,  was the adorable Bobbie, with layered scalloped edges in soft suede. Gorgeous! Fawn is behind in turquoise.

DSC_0828A big thanks to my friends at Nordstrom for inviting me to see Sarah Jessica Parker and her fabulous new line. It was such a thrill! Check out the entire SJP line, exclusive to Nordstrom, online and in store.
