Notes on interjecting a little color into your wardrobe…  Please visit Katy at Modly Chic for her answers and more information on joining the Friend Friday group.

1. What color dominates your closet?

Traditionally it’s always been blues and greens more so than pinks and reds although lately I’ve purchased a bit of pink here and there.  I seriously (no lies here!) don’t have a single red item in my wardrobe.  I had a pair of red shoes, but sold them during my big closet purge last fall along with my old red handbag.  I’m just not a super red gal, I s’pose.  I also, like any self-respecting gal about town, own a fair amount of black.

2. If money weren’t an issue how would you change the color emphasis in your closet?

Um…I’m not sure.  Not sure how or if I really would.  My favorite color is turquoise and I used to buy just about any apparel or accessory item in that color, regardless of fit, shape or function.  I own very few of those items now because once I found that they were annoying to wear/didn’t really fit that well/were of a low quality, they fell by the wayside pretty quickly.  Now I purchase things that make me happy in that they fit well, make me feel good about myself, and make me want to pull them out of my closet and wear as much as possible.  I’ve found that’s what works for me.

3. What is your mantra about mixing colors?

I guess I go for some neutrals and some colors and one big pop.  Although I may have several colors in one outfit, there’s usually one bright that stands out among the rest.  That last little pop of color is what lets me know I’m ready to walk out the door and start my day.  As stated in previous posts (and shown in the photos as well…haha) I’ve lost the desire to stick with one neutral.  Sometimes mixing black and brown is just the kick that makes an outfit interesting.

4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits?

I don’t feel right if I don’t have color in my outfits…pretty much everyday.  I add color through everything from clothing pieces like dresses, skirts, tops and sweaters, as well as through accessories like my scarves and my beloved colorful tights.  I have fun mixing prints and different colors together.  It’s always a game to find new combinations I haven’t previously put together from the clothes in my closet.  I think colorful dressing is addictive!  Once you get that charge of color you want it again and again.  Luckily it’s a healthy and safe addiction…not to mention super fun, too.

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating colorinto their wardrobe?

I fancy myself a pretty colorful dresser, but I am constantly amazed at how Suze of Miss Vinyl Ahoy incorporates colors in new and interesting ways.  She inspires me to go further and leave my comfort zone in the dust.  Talk about an inspiration!
