Recently I had the pleasure of checking out another fantastic local event here in the Seattle area, the Taste of Tacoma! It was a fun and tasty afternoon with two of my best girlfriends. We enjoyed an absolutely stunning summer day out at Point Defiance Park sampling foods from a variety of food trucks, listening to some live music, and lounging in the sunshine. Keep reading for the full scoop!

My friends K. and C. and I drove out to Tacoma for the event, a suburb just 50 minutes outside Seattle. I had never been to Point Defiance Park before, and it was a pleasure to make the drive out to Tacoma in a brand new 2017 Toyota Corolla XSE! It’s a cute, comfortable car and it was perfect for a little road trip out of town. Traffic can be a bear going that direction, so it was great to be cool and comfortable the whole way. We all gave the air conditioning four stars since it was a total lifesaver on such a hot day. It got super cold in an instant, a big plus in that summer heat!

Point Defiance Park was the perfect spot for an event like this, with sprawling grassy hills, lots of trees for shade cover, and plenty of space for tons of food trucks, sales booths, and a couple of big stages for performers. Plus, it was a beautiful day for a drive! We managed to find street parking near the park, but they also offered a shuttle service for those who didn’t want to search for a spot.

There was a huge variety of foods there from Mexican to BBQ to poke to sushi, and beyond! One of my favorite things there was this adorable Izze soda truck where they were debuting some of their new summer flavors! Seriously, how cute is this little pink truck? These girls had it made in the shade on such a hot day, especially under these trees.

For a small fee there were some gourmet food booths, which was a fun option beyond your typical summer food fare. I loved this set-up, too, with the little white picket fence. Most booths were cash only, but they had several ATMs on site for our convenience. It was easy to go through our cash supply trying out all of the food and drink options. There was also a frosé booth, but the lines were super long and they actually sold out!

I had a fish taco that was to die for! That was definitely my favorite thing, with a swirl frozen yogurt coming in at a close second. I’m always a sucker for tacos, and this one did not disappoint! And how can you go wrong with fish and chips? The drinks we had were a welcome relief from the heat, although a little too sugary for my taste. I was nursing a nasty sunburn, so a maxi dress was the perfect outfit to keep cool while protecting my skin from additional sun damage. Aloe and SPF were my best friends that day!

They also had some live music there which really added to the fun and ambiance for a day in the sun. I snapped a little video of our surroundings to give you the full picture. It was fun, festive, and relaxing, lounging out in the shade listening to music with my girlfriends. As you can see a lot of people brought blankets and chairs to camp out and watch the different bands and performers. It was also a good day to catch a little tan, too!

All in all the Taste of Tacoma was a fun day out with two of my best girls. You know you’re good friends when without even trying your outfits coordinate! A big thanks to Toyota for sending us out to test out the new Corolla and to have some tasty treats at the Taste of Tacoma. Have you ever been to any Taste events in your city? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Full Disclosure: Toyota generously provided me with a 2017 Toyota Corolla XSE to drive for the week, plus a Visa gift card to purchase some goodies at the Taste of Tacoma event. All opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the companies and brands that support Lindsay Living.
