Empty House Tour

DIY

We bought our first home!

We found the most amazing mid-century traditional ranch home in Seattle. Just wait until you see what we do with it.

One of the most exciting parts of the interior design process is that first time you walk into a home and it’s finally yours. All of the seller’s belongings are long gone, and its finally time for you to get your hands dirty and make your new house a home. This is my favorite time to take a swing through the home with my camera taking both photos and videos, dancing in the yard, measuring empty rooms, sitting on the floor or counter and dreaming up all the space could be in my care.

My design aesthetic has changed a lot of the years, especially in the time since I’ve been uploading YouTube videos. I find with more focus and regular practice, not to mention reflecting on my designs as I’ve reviewed video documenting each transformation, I’ve learned so much. Designing this home is the biggest project I’ve ever taken on. I don’t know how to do half the stuff that’s on my DIY list, but that won’t stop me. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty and rebuild this house myself.

Designing your first home can be incredibly daunting, but it’s okay to take it slow in the first weeks, months, even years. I’m a big fan of slow design, and spending time in this home completely empty made my imagination run wild. I’m hoping YOUR imagination is running wild, too! If you have any ideas for our home renovation let me know in the comments below.
